After a long period of disagreeing with Avengers’ policies and direction, Iron Man voted to disband the West Coast Avengers to form his own proactive team: Force Works. He recruited some of his former teammates: the Scarlet Witch, who assumed leadership duties, and Spider-Woman, U.S.Agent and Wonder Man.

Apart from the main, official Avengers team, there were several ‘spin off’ teams which held the ‘Avengers’ name.
One of the first teams, with the premise of expanding the Avengers influence, was the West Coast Avengers.
‘Suggested’ by the Vision, led by Hawkeye, the team was formed by Avengers veterans and newcomers.
Due to constant in-fighting and after major losses of resources and personnel, the team was officially shut down.
